Q. How long do lessons last? A. Each lesson lasts 1 hour. Q. Do you charge for traveling time? A. No. There are no extra charges, you only pay for the lessons. Q. What if I don't have an office we can meet in? A. I have premises near to Liverpool Street station which we can use so it is not a problem. Q. What if I don't have a PayPal account, is there another way to pay? A. Yes. I am happy to accept payment by cheque however I must be in receipt of cleared funds before lessons commence. Q. Is it possible to book back-to-back lessons? A. Yes. You can book more than one consecutive lesson but I would recommend a maximum of two as sessions lasting more than 2 hours can be quite tiring, especially if you are new to the language. Q. Do you cover Chinese writing on your course? A. Yes. One of the first things I'll teach you is how to write your name in Chinese. The standard course material covers basic Chinese characters but if you have a particular interest in this area, we can study Chinese writing to an advanced level. Q. How many lessons will I need to become fluent? A. That, of course, depends on your innate ability to learn languages but as a rough guide:
Q. Do you cater for advanced students? A. Yes. If you already speak Mandarin and would like to brush up on your skills or learn more advanced skills then I can step outside the normal lesson plan and design a course suitable for you. Q. Is it possible to book sessions outside of office hours? A. Yes - please contact me to arrange a mutually convenient time. Q. Do you provide group training sessions? A. Yes. Please call for details. Q. Do you teach outside of London? A. No. I teach anywhere which is accessible via the London Underground/Bus network. Q. Do you provide telephone based training? A. Yes. Please call for details. Q. Do you provide translation and interpreting services? A. Yes. Please call for details. Q. Does your money back guarantee include my first lesson? A. No. By the time the cost of your text book, PayPal transaction charges, admin charges, promotional charges, and travel expenses have been deducted from your initial £45, I make next to no money (or even sometimes make a loss) on lesson one. To protect myself from being used as a source of free text books, I must insist that the fee for your first lesson is non-refundable. Remember, you get to keep the text book worth nearly a third of the lesson price so your exposure is minimal - my money back guarantee applies to subsequent blocks of lessons.
